At the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, we believe physical and mental health intrinsically relate to a person’s overall well-being. Focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, we developed a national award-winning wellness program that features physical and emotional health resources.

Physical Health

Knowing the importance of a healthy body, we provide employees on-site access to an injury prevention specialist who assess the employee and their specific job duties to create a plan to reduce and prevent chronic injuries, a nutritionist who develops a personalized guide to maintain a balanced diet to support physical health, and a massage therapist who performs therapeutic techniques to provide relief. The Training Division also houses a weight room and track for exercise.

Mental Health

Studies have shown mental health can have an impact on physical health. That is why the sheriff’s office employees a well-trained Peer Support team made up of sworn and non-sworn law enforcement staff. Members of the have the desire to help fellow employees deal with personal and professional crisis, the ability to maintain confidentiality, have knowledge of grief, stress, and crisis management, and are great communicators. Their job is to provide emotional and informational assistance to employees who may be facing challenges at work or home. The team practices empathy and active listening as a means foster connections and trust to help navigate employees through difficult times. We also partner with a mental health professional to provide additional resources to those in need. These combined resources have the ability to respond immediately to critical incidents and provide both on-on-one and group assistance to those involved.
