Common Frequently Asked Questions

What will this course enable me to do?

This is a required course for all county correctional officers. Under State law, corrections personnel must complete this course within 1 year of employment. By taking this course now, you will be much more marketable as a candidate for an adult correctional officer position.

Is this course the same for Ca. Dept. of Corrections Personnel?

No! If you wish to pursue employment with the Ca. Dept. of Corrections, you must apply directly with them and go through their specific training. This course is applicable to all COUNTY correctional facilities, and there are 58 counties in the State of California.

What type of background do I need to have?

Some correctional officers have powers of arrest under certain circumstances. As such, you cannot have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor prohibiting possession of a firearm.

What is the course like?

Law enforcement agencies are para-military organizations. As such, this 6 week course seeks to instill the discipline, knowledge, and law enforcement customs to be successful as a correctional officer.

We work with a number of different agencies throughout the entire Valley and will assist whenever possible in matching up potential candidates with employers.
